CS George Magoha’s Call for Pornographic Websites To Be Banned Attracts Mixed Reactions from Kenyans

The outgoing Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha called out on the new government to ban ponographic content in Kenya. While speaking at the official opening ceremony of the Annual Music Festival in Kisumu on 19th September, 2022, CS Magoha said that the ban on pornographic websites in Kenya should be expedited to protect minors.

“In as much as we enjoy the freedom of everything including the internet, the pornographic sites centres must be blocked as soon as yesterday,” said Magoha.

“You do not want your children who are going to primary school to know all types and positions of having sex…. For what purpose?”

Magoha’s statement has attracted mixed reactions from Kenyans on social media.

Those in support stated:

Arimis should also be banned in towns, akuna ngombe uko,” Kenny Oska on Facebook.

ElleKG on Twitter added, “I don’t believe in restricting adult entertainment for ADULTS, the significant problem and criminal matter is the parents/guardians who give children access to pornography through phones, tablets, computers in the home.”
