SportPesa has sponsored Gor Mahia with tshirts worth Kshs. 240 million over a period of three years.

This has come just a few days after the club mutually ended its previous sponsorship with Betafriq. Accordingly, SportPesa is making a comeback as the club’s tshirt sponsor since their previous deal ended in 2018. In this new deal, Gor Mahia will receive Kshs. 80 million annually. The sponsorship comes as a big boost to the club which is struggling financially.

The partnership launch happened at Sarit Center. It was graced by Gor Mahia Chairman Ambrose Rachier and CEO Raymondo Oruo, Sportpesa CEO Ronald Karauri, who is also the newly elected Member of Parliament for Kasarani, and his counterpart Francis Kuria Kimani.
Rachier has applauded the reunion, and is hopeful that it’s going to boost the club’s performance once again.

“I remember with a lot of nostalgia the great days of our partnership with SportPesa. We played against Everton for their pre-season maiden tour of East Africa back in 2017 and were also accorded the honour to play a game against the same team in November 2018 at their home ground in Liverpool, UK,” said Rachier.
The Sportpesa Chairman was also happy that the duo were going to work together again.
“I’m happy that we are working together again having been your previous sponsors. The relationship we had before was a good one and I’m prepared to see into it that every aspect of this sponsorship is fulfilled,” said Karauri.
“I can promise that this sponsorship will be a big one and will continue investing not only in football but other sports,” he added.
Sportpesa previously supported both Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards in 2016 with Kshs. 65 million and Kshs. 45 million per season but terminated the deal in 2018.
