Norway and Manchester City star Erling Halaand continued with his fine form in the international break. The striker scored a goal in Norway’s game against Slovenia but it wasn’t enough to earn Norway a promotion in the UEFA Nation League group A.

Haaland opened the scoring in the 47th minute thus bringing his tally to 6 goals in five games for Norway in this campaign  with the Nordic nation now sitting atop group B4. But goals from Andraz Sporar and Benjamin Sesko turned the match in Slovenia’s favour in the second half.

Serbia will have the chance to bypass Norway at the top of the table when they meet Sweden later on Saturday evening.

A victory for second-placed Serbia would put them ahead of Norway on goal difference before the two nations meet in their final group match on Tuesday.

The 22 year old has scored six of Norway’s seven Nations League goals and his latest strike, following a defensive error, takes his international tally to 21 goals in 22 games for his country. The talisman has also had a sterling performance under Pep Guardiola, having scored 14 goals in 10 matches.

Northern Ireland beat Kosovo 2-0,Ukraine thumped Armenia 5-0  while Iceland Vs Russia was postponed. Other matches lined up in the Nations League competition include Cyprus vs Greece, Czech Republic vs Portugal, Spain vs Switzerland, Israel vs Albania and Serbia vs Sweden
