The former Nairobi governor Dr Evans Kidero who has since registered his own party dubbed Democratic Congress Party, has waded into the intrigues taking place in the Orange party with him voicing support for the rebels led by Embakasi East Mp Babu Owino and Narok senator Ledama Ole Kina.

Hon Babu Owino and Hon Ole Kina had decried their sidelining in the sharing of parliamentary positions by the Orange Democratic Movement led by Former Premier Raila Odinga.  The rebels intimate that they have done a lot for the party but when it comes to being rewarded, they get nothing and instead the plum positions are given to the old guard who did nothing to help the campaign.

Dr Kidero, who was a member of ODM before quitting and running for the Homa Bay gubernatorial seat on an independent ticket, accused the Orange party for being run like a kiosk or a personal property. He further added that Raila Odinga has a habit of sidelining party stalwarts who give their all to the party only for him to reward sycophants who add no value to the party.

The former governor added that ODM as a party has flourished to the heights it achieved due to the massive support the party enjoyed from the youths.

“Let’s understand where Hon. Babu Owino is coming from. ODM is what it is because of the youth; majority membership. Zeal and passion for party support ,Soldiers and army for the party,” Kidero said in a Facebook post.

Dr Kidero further sensationally fingered the ODM boss for using the party for his personal enrichment as opposed to rewarding those who have stood for the party. He cited the nominations into the county assemblies, something which should have benefited the youths but instead opted for the moneyed old guards.

“ODM is personal property and a commercial asset which the owners use to maximize financial returns and optimize their wealth creation,”  Dr Kidero claimed. He also asked those dissatisfied by the party to just leave because their complaints will yield to nothing substantial.

Dr Kidero says that his  Democratic Congress Party will offer an alternative to those disgruntled in the now bitter Orange party an alternative. He seeks to first draw support for the party from ODM’s bastion of Nyanza before spreading nationally.
