Kipchoge Shatters World Record, Again!

Eliud Kipchoge touted to be the greatest marathoner if not athlete of all time, ran the Berlin marathon in 2.01.08 shattering the previous  World marathon record of 2:01.39 set by himself in 2018.

The champion marathoner crossed the halfway mark in less than one hour building up to the excitement of a sub two hour marathon. However, Kipchoge slowed down in the second hour of the race but was quick enough to go ahead and break his record, missing the sub two hour fete by a just over a minute.

Ethiopian Guye Adola proved to be his closest challenger who went neck to neck with the world champion but could not keep up with the pace and thus fell off with 15 kilometers to go.

Kipchoge’s compatriot Mark Korir finished second with an impressive 2.05.58 and Ethiopian Tadu Abate finished third at 2.06.28.  Kipchoge now equals another marathon great Haile Gebresellasie’s record of four Berlin Marathon wins.
