Kenya will Buy Russian Oil- President Ruto

Speaking to the BBC, President William Ruto has said that Kenya is open to do business with any country including Russia as he tries to bring the cost of fuel down. Fuel prices surged when President Ruto scraped off the fuel subsidy to make fuel retail at market prices which have been rising throughout the globe.

The head of state said that Kenya is free to assess all the options available and see which one would benefit the nation in its quest to bring the cost of living down. Dr. Ruto also hinted to a government to government approach in dealing with the oil crisis.

“I am now going to move on to the agenda of making sure that we have government-to-government relationships that will progressively now begin the journey to bring the prices of fuel down,” President Ruto said

Many European nations have cut their ties with Moscow since Russia invaded Ukraine in February. The European Union placed sanctions on Russia, a top exporter of energy that runs Europe’s industries. The EU has started exploring alternative sources before a full oil embargo on Russia takes full effect in October.

Russia on the other hand is aggressively looking for new customers for its commodities. Asian countries especially India and China have been the biggest buyers of the Russian oil which is sold at huge discounts as President Putin tries to forge new alliances
