The coalition’s top brass led by Raila Odinga the party leader and his running mate in the just concluded elections Martha Karua have decried the manner in which the apex court conducted themselves pertaining the petition to nullify the Presidential election.

In response to the full judgment issued by the Supreme Court on Monday, Azimio leader Raila Odinga took issue with the court’s findings even as he questioned the validity of the elections and the language of the bench. Azimio La Umoja Party (One Kenya Coalition Party) presidential candidate Raila Odinga and his running mate Martha Karua look at a document at the Milimani High Court in Nairobi on August 22, 2022.

Mr Odinga noted that the Supreme court judges ignored evidence that pointed to the illegal access by the Venezuelans of key election infrastructure, the Chairman’s overbearing nature and the question of whether the constitutional threshold of 50% + 1 was met.

In a joint statement with Martha Karua, Raila accused the Supreme court of double speak by excusing the IEBC chairman’s conduct in their ruling on 5th September and then admonishing him for the same issues in the full ruling.

“On one hand, the Court clearly establishes the illegal conduct by Mr. Wafula Chebukati the Chairperson of the IEBC. On the other hand, however, the Court overlooks this critical finding and excuses Mr. Chebukati despite the glaring violations of the Constitution and the law.” Read part of the statement issued on September 28th

They however promised to continue seeking justice as they find it unthinkable that with all those glaring irregularities, the supreme court went ahead to give the election of President William Ruto a thumbs up and upheld his win. Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua has since vowed to proceed to the East African court albeit on a personal capacity.
