Hon William Chepkut, the immediate former member of parliament for Ainabkoi constituency has breathed his last today (Saturday) morning. His family has confirmed.
The late MP is said to have developed complications and collapsed in his home before being rushed to Mediheal hospital parklands where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Mr Chepkut’s death comes as a culmination of his battle with poor health that started back in 1997 where his kidneys failed and necessitated a transplant.He has been unwell for sometime and was admitted to hospital for long between late last year and early this year.
The former legislator has been in active politics since the Moi era when he served as a personal assistant to the then powerful minister Nicholas Biwott. He plunged himself into elective politics when he vied and won the Ainabkoi parliamentary seat in 2017 on a Jubilee Party ticket representing the constituency till 2022.
The highly humorous MP who cracked ribs during his addresses both in and out of the August house lost his re election bid to UDA’s William Chepkonga in the just concluded August 9th elections which he had ran as an independent candidate.
He was a down to earth MP, highly social and frequently caused surprises when he visited his constituency using boda boda. Previously he operated two popular hotels in Eldoret. The late MP also owned a farm in Ainabkoi constituency
