IEBC Commissioner Boya Molu, Chebukati’s Wife in PS shortlist

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioner  Boya Molu has been included in the new shortlist for selection as Permanent Secretaries.

The Public Service Commission (PSC) released 108 additional names to be added on the previous list which contained 477 names bringing the total to 585 names which will be fowarded to President Ruto to choose 49 individuals who will be the chief accounting officers in the various ministries.

Also included in the new list are former Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko and his running mate in their botched Mombasa gubernatorial bid Ali Mbogo who is also a former Kisauni constituency MP. Other notable names are David Sankok, former nominated MP and former executive director of Kenya’s Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) Board, Fazul Mohamed.

The Public Service Commission reviewed the previous list to add the new names in what they termed as a way to make the selection process more inclusive by  considering gender, the marginalised and minority groups. People living with disabilities were also included in the new list.

“Also considered in the revised list are the youth and Persons Living With Disability (PLWD) in accordance with Article 232 (h) of the Constitution,” read the notice in part.

The additional names join the 477 previously shortlisted in the race to fill 49 vacancies. Notable names that had appeared previously include Mary Chebukati, IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati’s wife, Nixon Korir the former Lang’ata constituency MP and  outgoing Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Mercy Mwangangi.

Also on the list is former Narok Governor Samuel Tunai, former Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa, Director General for Health Dr Patrick Amoth and Isaac Mwaura who lost his bid for Ruiru constituency MP in the UDA primaries.

The shortlisted candidates also include Permanent Secretaries who served in former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government, Housing PS Charles Hinga, Agriculture PS Francis Owino and ICT PS Jerome Ochieng  made the shortlist.

Others are Esther Koimett (Broadcasting and  Telecommunications), Peter Kaberia (Industrialisation), Julius Jwan (Education), Saitoti Torome (Planning), and Nelson Marwa (Social Protection), Belio Kipsang (Regional and Northern Corridor Development), Margaret Mwakimu (TVET) and Fred Sigor (Wildlife)
