Ruto Honors Promise and Reduces Fuel by KES 1

President William Ruto’s  government has attempted to ease the cost of living by reducing the cost of fuel. In The new prices announced by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) Diesel and Kerosene decrease by Kshs 1 per litre, Kshs 2 per litre and Kshs 1 per litre respectively.

In addition, the Energy regulator announced that  a subsidy of Kshs.18.15/litre and Kshs.27.47/litre has been maintained for Diesel and Kerosene respectively in order to cushion consumers from the otherwise high prices.

The Government will utilize the Petroleum Development Levy to compensate oil marketing companies for the difference in cost. This is the first reduction in 13 months thereby signaling better days ahead.

Prices for a litre of Super petrol was dropped to Ksh178  from Ksh179.30. Diesel will now retail at Ksh163  from Ksh165 while Kerosene was dropped to Ksh146 from Ksh147.94.

The new prices take effect from October 14 at midnight for a period of one month.
