Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Alliance party leader Raila Odinga has today left the country for India on an international tour which will see him also visit other nations. Mr Odinga will be visiting India both in his personal capacity and as the African Union Infrastructure high representative.
“Baba has left the country for a week’s visit to several nations starting with India; see you all when I’m back.” He wrote in a tweet
This comes just days after the Former Prime Minister held talks with India’s new High Commissioner to Kenya, Namgya Khampa.
“The strong bond and ties between our nations formed the core of our discussion as we hosted India’s new High Commissioner to Kenya, Namgya Khampa. We wish her all the best as she begins her tour of duty in Nairobi,” Raila said after meeting the High Commissioner on October 14.

Dennis Onyango, his director of communications had earlier communicated that the former Premier will be in India for 10 days where he will have official engagements with business leaders focusing on Africa’s Infrastructure Development. In addition, Onyango said that Rt Hon Odinga will also be attending to some personal matters in his Indian tour.
“Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga has left the country for India to attend to personal matters and have official engagements with various players in his capacity as AU Infrastructure High Representative for Africa,” Onyango said in a statement.
“While in India, Mr. Odinga will visit the cities of Hyderabad and Trivandrumis for meetings with business leaders with interests in Africa’s infrastructure development,” he added.
The ODM leader last visited India in February 2022 to check on his daughter Rosemary Odinga, who was undergoing specialised treatment for her eyesight. Modi revealed that Odinga suggested that the Ayuvreda technology, which was used in his daughter’s treatment should be introduced to Kenya to help the people suffering from the same condition.
