Azimio la Umoja party leader Raila Odinga unveiled the Movement for Defence of Democracy (MDD) a youth wing formed by radical youth drawn from university student leaders across the nation.
The group which donned military fatigue and an iconic maroon beret vowed to fight for the return of democracy to the nation.
The outfit has accused Chebukati of raping and desecrating Kenya’s democracy such that people no longer see the need to vote as their votes never count.
“In 2013, two million Kenyans never voted, in 2017 four million Kenyans never voted, in 2022 eight million Kenyans never bothered to come out and vote for their leaders. This is a pointer that people have given up their faith in the electoral system and thus they decide not to vote as their votes won’t count.” Fikirini Jacobs told the charged crowd.
The group led by John Mukoya, Anthony Manyara, Fikirini Jacobs, Fred Makajos and Fidel Castro vowed to fight for Azimio La Umoja party leader Raila Odinga’s win in the August election and that they will ensure justice is served.
The outfit calls for the audit of the August 2022 elections by the international community to ensure that the rightful winner who they believe was Raila Odinga is installed as president.
“We are ready to fight for what we believe is a just cause no matter the danger that lies ahead. Our parents fought for democracy and now they are old they can’t fight anymore so we are taking the mantle as we won’t just sit as our rights are mutilated.” Read part of their statement
