Big blow to Raila as 9 Members of Parliament visit Ruto in Statehouse

Azimio la Umoja party leader has suffered a major setback after nine MPs drawn from ODM and his Luo Nyanza backyard made a statehouse visit hosted by president William Ruto.

 

The visit comes even as the former premier has intensified calls for Ruto to resign and vacate statehouse. The Azimio party leader has already held three rallies in Nairobi and has planned for one in Machakos on Friday and another one in Busia on Sunday, all these in a bid to mount pressure on President Ruto to resign.

 

President Ruto was upbeat about the visit and termed it as a step in the right direction in the actualization of national unity.

 

Lang’ata MP Felix Odiwor popularly known as Jalang’o who was among the 9 elected leaders in the statehouse meeting, went to social media to disclose what the meeting was all about.

 

“Today we had breakfast with the president at statehouse. I followed up on the start date of the construction of affordable housing project in Highrise ward and the completion of Lang’ata TVET. The project is on and the contractor is on the ground. An additional 50 million has been allocated for the project.” Jalang’o said in a statement.

 

Othe leaders present included Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Mark Nyamita (Uriri), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Shakeel Shabir (Kisumu East, Independent), Paul Abuor (Rongo), John Owino (Awendo) and Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda
