Paris Saint-Germain to battle Barcelona for Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva?

Paris St-Germain want to sign 28-year-old Portugal midfielder Bernardo Silva, who is open to leaving Manchester City, but could face competition from Barcelona.

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly identified Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva as a transfer target for the summer window.

Silva has been regarded as a key player by Pep Guardiola throughout his time at the Etihad Stadium, making a total of 282 appearances in all competitions since 2017.

During that period, the Portugal international has contributed 50 goals and 56 assists, helping City win four Premier League titles as well as other pieces of silverware.

Barcelona have been linked with the former Monaco man during the most recent transfer windows, only for their financial situation contributing to a deal never materialising.

As it stands, it is unclear whether that will be the case when the market reopens in June, but it appears that they will face strong competition for the creator’s signature.

According to Le10Sport, PSG are giving consideration to making a formal approach for Silva later in the year.

City boss Guardiola is unsurprisingly unwilling to let the player leave, but Silva’s ‘desire’ is to ‘open a new chapter in his career’.

Man City signed him from Monaco for £45million in 2017 and the Portuguese international has won four Premier League titles, four League Cups and an FA Cup during his time in England.

Silva has been one of the Premier League club’s most consistent players under Pep Guardiola.
