In a seemingly clearest indication yet of a fallout in the Orange Democratic Movement, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has come out to answer Nominated MP John Mbadi after the latter said that he is not interested in being the party chairman and that someone else should take over.
John Mbadi has been ODM chairman for nine years and he had served three terms as MP. He was interested in the Homa Bay gubernatorial seat but he was prevailed upon by the party to support Gladys Wanga. He had been promised a position in government should Raila had formed the government.
Mr Mbadi complained that he was being undermined by the party members as there were calls for him to resign from the party leadership. His absence in anti government rallies has been conspicuous but he downplayed the accusations, saying that those rallies are not a must that he attends as th
The estranged MP also cited his removal from being the minority leader as a form of demotion, he had served in the last parliament as minority leader.
Babu Owino in a rebuttal urged him to go and leave the party to those who were willing to work for the party. The vocal lawmaker posted,
“We wish you well Hon.John Mbadi as you step down from ODM Party Chairmanship.It is now my time to take over from where you have left and steer the Party to greater heights and prosperity.YOUTH POWER.”
