Rebellion in Jubilee as Sabina Chege leads over 30 Jubilee leaders to Statehouse

Just a day after nine MPs drawn from Raila Odinga’s Luo Nyanza bastion, Sabina Chege has led 30 leaders from former president Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee party to statehouse where reports indicate that they pledged their allegiance to President Ruto and promised to work with him.

In what could be taken to mean that the Azimio coalition is fast crumbling, Some of the members present were Eldas MP Aden Keynan, John Waluke (Sirisia), Mark Mwenje (Embakasi West), Sabina Chege (Nominated), Stanley Muthama (Lamu West) and Yusuf Hassan (Kamukunji) among others.

This could spell doom for the opposition outfit as the head of state is on a charm offensive rallying opposition MPs to his side at a time when Raila Odinga has intensified calls on Dr William Ruto to resign as he did not win the election.

The former premier has been holding anti government rallies and has organized more of them in the coming days. He is expected to grace one in Machakos on Friday and another one on Sunday in Busia.

Jubilee party MPs have given the rallies a wide berth and it’s only the party’s Secretary General, former Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni who has been a constant figure in the rallies.

Having won over the opposition MPs to his side, President Ruto has solidified his position in parliament such that any bill which is of interest to him and his administration can easily pass
