Azimio coalition Chairman Uhuru Kenyatta together with his party leader Raila Odinga shared the podium today for the first time since the last electioneering period when they attended Professor George Magoha’s funeral in Yala, Siaya county.
The two were treated to a raucous welcome even as their main political protagonist William Ruto gave the funeral a wide berth.
Former President Uhuru Kenyatta used the opportunity to reaffirm his unwavering support to the Azimio la Umoja party leader Raila Odinga and that whichever direction he would take he shall count on him as his loyal follower.
The duo then went by road from Yala addressing stop over rallies which culminated to a mega rally in the newly opened Kisumu market which was one of the projects Azimio Chairman Uhuru Kenyatta had initiated before retirement.
The former president assured locals that he was firmly in Azimio and that all they want is service delivery to all Kenyans irrespective of where they come from or whom they support.
The Jubilee party leader also said that he might have retired from politics but he is not yet tired. He promised to be available when needed for harambee and other activities
“Mimi munajua sasa nimestaafu si ni kweli? Mimi nimestaafu nko retired but I am not tired. Tunaelewana? I am retired but not? Ama ni namna gani? Na sasa mimi munajua ya kwamba party leader ni nani? (Crowd shouts ‘Raila Amolo Odinga’. Uhuru asked the crowd thrice who his party leader is) Namna hio (he acknowldeged the crowd),” Uhuru said
The two leaders were accompanied by Siaya governor James Orengo, Jubilee party SG Jeremiah Kioni, Eugine Wamalwa, Rosa Buyu, Opiyo Wandayi, Sam Atandi among others.
