Marcel Sabitzer given incentive by Man Utd as stance on permanent transfer emerges.

Manchester United are open to signing Marcel Sabitzer permanently should the Austria midfielder impress during his ongoing loan spell at Old Trafford, according to reports.

United swooped for Sabitzer, 28, on January deadline day after playmaker Christian Eriksen was ruled out for at least three months. Bayern Munich were willing to allow Sabitzer to leave temporarily but there is no option or obligation for the Premier League side to buy.

Sabitzer could stay in Manchester next season.

The 28-year-old had fallen out of favour in Germany and was keen on making the switch to the Premier League to work under Erik ten Hag. Given the Reds’ scintillating form as of late, he would likely want to stay and continue to play a part in the manager’s project at Old Trafford.

Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag believes there is a chance that Marcel Sabitzer and Wout Weghorst could stay beyond the end of the season, according to reports.

The Red Devils didn’t bring in any permanent signings in the January transfer window after backing Ten Hag heavily in the summer market – but they did provide him with Sabitzer and Weghorst on loan from Bayern Munich and Burnley respectively.

Man Utd are going well in the Premier League with their 2-2 draw against rivals Leeds in midweek moving them just two points behind second-placed Man City, who have a game in hand on Ten Hag’s men.
