Potter’s ponderers nearly pay the full Rice.

The 120th meeting between West Ham United and Chelsea ended all square, leaving Graham Potter’s men without an away win in eight games. Emerson’s first half leveller cancelled out a fine Chelsea opener from João Félix, before a late offside call against Declan Rice denied the Hammers a vital victory.

Potter again rolled the dice with a triple substitution, but it was the Hammers who thought they had dealt the fatal blow. Without a goal since august, Tomáš Souček bundled home as Rice’s header could only be parried, but David Moyes was made to wait for his 250th PL win in agonising fashion, with Rice flagged offside after a lengthy VAR review.

The drama wasn’t over yet though, as Conor Gallagher’s strike looked to have hit a hand, but referee Craig Pawson decided against allowing Chelsea the opportunity to find a last-gasp winner, ensuring that this clash of East and West London would end with honours even.

No player registered more touches (63) or completed more passes (49) than Enzo Fernandez in the first-half.

Putting himself in the thick of it.

João Félix is the first Portuguese player to score a Premier League goal for Chelsea since Raul Meireles in May 2012.
