Uhuru and Raila Mourn Magoha as Ruto gives the funeral a wide berth

The handshake brothers were seen in public for the first time since the August elections during the funeral of former CS professor George Magoha in Yala, Siaya county.

 

Both Uhuru and Raila had received thunderous welcomes when they arrived at the funeral. But it was Raila who stole the show when he arrived adorned in traditional Luo regalia complete with a flywhisk, spear and shield. The former Premier then went on to chant a dirge in Dholuo “Jowi! Jowi!” Much to the excitement of the mourners who joined him in chanting.

 

Former president Uhuru Kenyatta eulogized Magoha as a hardworking civil servant who loved his nation and would do anything to deliver services to the people.

 

There was palpable cheers and excitement when he affirmed that Raila is his friend, brother and Party leader.

 

On the other hand, Raila Odinga praised Magoha’s intellect and love for truth.

 

“People used to accuse Prof Magoha of not helping Luos when he was Education Minister. Magoha always said, “I don’t need to help Luos, the only thing I need to do is to level the playing field where there’s no cheating in exams, and Luos would automatically find their way to the top.” Said the Azimio leader

 

After the funeral, the two drove for over 45 kilometers from Yala to Kisumu through Luanda addressing roadside rallies where they affirmed that they are still together and they will continue working together for the betterment of kenya
