Ongwae, Itumbi, Malala, Ngirici and Omanga among those shortlisted for CAS positions

 

In what could set their path to appointment into the government, the Public Service Commission has shortlisted candidates for the Chief Administrative Secretaries (CAS) slots.

The 224-man list was made after the PSC received applications from 5183 candidates. The positions had been advertised in November last year but the process had been stalled by a petition seeking to prevent the appointment of the CASs citing lack of public participation.

Notable names on the list include politicians who supported President Ruto’s election bid together with those who jumped ship from the opposition and now support the Kenya Kwanza regime.

Former Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala who unsuccessfully vied for Kakamega governor made to the list, same as Millicent Omanga who failed to clinch the Nairobi Women Representative seat.

Retired governors James Ongwae, Patrick Kaemba, John Mruttu, Hussein Dado and their Narok counterpart Samuel Ole Tunai also made the list.

Former Nairobi governor Evans Kidero has also been shortlisted, Kidero lost the closely contested Homabay gubernatorial race to ODM’s Gladys Wanga.

Dennis Itumbi, who has been an integral part in President Ruto’s campaign team has also been shortlisted and awaits the interview.

Others who made it to the list are, former Kisii county deputy Governor Joash Maangi, Isaac Mwaura who unsuccessfully ran for Ruiru MP on the UDA ticket and Chris Wamalwa of Ford Kenya who failed to clinch the Trans Nzoia gubernatorial seat.

Purity Ngirichi, Anwar Oloitiptip and Cate Waruguru are also notable heavyweights on the shortlist.

Fred Outa, the former Kisumu senator who has since fallen out with Azimio leader Raila Odinga and pledged his allegiance to President William Ruto is also on the shortlist.

The shortlisted candidates will be interviewed at the Public Service Commission, off Harambee Avenue Nairobi starting on 1st M ar ch , 2023 even as members of the public are encouraged to avail any information of interest pertaining to any of the shortlisted candidates by swearing an affidavit.
