Raila gives Ruto a 14 days ultimatum to lower the cost of living or he leads  countrywide Mass action

 

The Azimio La Umoja- One Kenya Alliance party leader Raila Odinga has called on President William Ruto to act on a raft of demands failure to which he will lead the nation in a countrywide mass action.

The former Premier gave the demands at a prayer meeting held on Wednesday at Jevanjee Gardens Nairobi.

Mr Odinga noted the high cost of living and called it a travesty for subsidies on food and school fees to be withdrawn at a time many Kenyans were experiencing famine.

Consequently, the Azimio leader who was flanked by his allies Kalonzo Musyoka, Martha Karua, Wycliffe Oparanya, and Eugine Wamalwa announced 14 day ultimatum to restore the subsidies or he will lead Kenyas in mass protests.

He called for the opening of servers by the IEBC to restore the voice of the people which he still maintains it was usurped by Chebukati.

He also urged a bipartisan approach to the selection of the IEBC commissioners.

The Azimio leader also took fault with Dr Ruto’s administration in what he called a witchhunt of those who worked for the previous administration. He was referring to the tribulations Former Interior CS Matiang’i and his lawyer Danstan Omari are having with the DCI.

He also called out the Police for harassing Eric Omondi. The comedian had gone to parliament protesting about the high cost of living.

The Azimio supremo also announced the continuation of anti-government rallies accoss the nation even as he heads to Western region during the weekend.

They will be in Kakamega on saturday and thereafter head to Kitale on Sunday.
