Atletico Madrid have held talks with Adama Traore over a free transfer at the end of the season, 90min understands.
Traore’s contract with Wolves is set to expire in the summer and terms are unlikely to be agreed over a new deal.
The winger is enjoying life at Molineux under compatriot Julen Lopetegui but it is increasingly likely that he will depart Wolves.
The 27-year-old has previously been the subject of interest from Premier League sides Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur, but a return to Spain is looking a more likely option at this stage.
Traore spent the second half of the 2021/22 season back in La Liga on a six month loan with boyhood club Barcelona, making 17 appearances in all competitions for La Blaugrana but failing to register a goal.
After Barça declined to take up the purchase clause in the deal, Traore returned to Wolves, where he has made 27 appearances so far this season, though most of these have come from the bench.
Traore, who has prior experience of playing in La Liga, having represented Barcelona in two separate stints, is set to become a free agent in the summer.
The Spanish international’s contract with Wolves expires at the end of the season and as per the report, an agreement over an extension is unlikely to be reached, even though he has been enjoying a decent run under new manager Julen Lopetegui.
And, Atletico Madrid, who are already working to sign another Premier League star in Caglar Soyuncu in a Bosman deal, have now set their sights on a move for Traore as well.
