Raila intensifies his calls for mass action as he rallies his supporters for the protests

Azimio leader Raila Odinga has set his plans into action as he seeks to pursue what he calls his stolen victory.

The former Premier has been marshalling various interest groups and his grassroots support wing even as he prepares for the next course of action after the 14 day ultimatum he gave to the President expires in three days.

Mr Odinga had given President Ruto’s government 14 days to lower the cost of living, stop the IEBC commissioner’s recruitment process and open the servers. Failure to do that will see the opposition leader lead his supporters in a countrywide mass action plan.

Raila has consistently rejected the August elections together with subsequent ruling by the Supreme Court. Raila insists that he won the elections with 8.1 million votes against Ruto’s 5.9 million votes. He says he does not recognize Ruto as president and has vowed to reclaim his victory.

On the other handDr Ruto and his deputy Gachagua are having none of it and dismiss the ODM leader of bringing forth unrealistic demands so that he can negotiate for a handshake.

“I ask the opposition to stop disturbing me with the demands to open the IEBC servers. There is no article in the constitution that says the server must be opened. I will not engage in an exercise that is not anchored in law.” The President said on while in Nakuru

Gachagua reiterated that all Raila wants is a handshake to secure his share at the table but vowed not to allow any handshake. He says that President Ruto won’t be cowed by the demonstrations even if they do them on a daily basis.

“William Ruto does not buy fear, even if they hold demonstrations from Monday to Monday, there will be no handshake. Let the opposition play its oversight role. The only discussion we are willing to have with Raila is his permanent exit from politics.” Gachagua said while in Nakuru.
