Caleb Cositany appointed to Kenya Airports Authority chairman after missing out on CAS

Former Soy MP has found a soft landing after failing to make to the list of Chief Administrative Secretaries nominated by President Ruto yesterday.

In a gazette notice issued today March 17th, the former legislator has been appointed the Chairman of Kenya Ports Authority on a three-year contract effective March 17, 2023, to December 3, 2023, when his term will end.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 (1) (a) of the Kenya Airports Authority Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, appoint Caleb Kipkemoi Kositany to be the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Airports Authority,”Read the gazette notice

Kenya Airports Authority is an autonomous body charged with the responsibility of providing and managing all airports in the country.

Kositany is now responsible for managing all activities relating to policy decisions within the airports.

Kositany was deemed to be very close to the president and it was expected that after failing in his Uasin Gishu gubernatorial bid, the president would give him a plum position in government.

Many expected him to be a Cabinet Secretary, a Permanent Secretary or atleat a Chief Administrative secretary but it was not forthcoming. This raises speculations about just how close he is to the president, is he really in his inner circle?
