UDA leaders accuse Uhuru for sponsoring Azimio demonstrations

Leaders allied to President William Ruto have come out gun blazing to castigate the former President Uhuru Kenyatta for what they called undermining the president.

The leaders were speaking at Kianyaga Boys High School in Kirinyaga, at a ceremony to welcome Deputy president Rigathi Gachagua back to the school after 40 years. The DP is an old boy at the school.

Deputy president Rigathi Gachagua himself led the charge against the former president by accusing him of sponsoring the Azimio leader’s calls for mass protests.

“These people who are sponsoring this  Mzee (Raila Odinga) are living in denial, this Mzee lost and there is nothing you can do” Said the DP

“This has been his script for the last five elections, he went into co-operation with Moi, Went into Nusu Mkate (Grand coalition) with Kibaki and then sold fear to Uhuru Kenyatta who accommodated him into a handshake. This time round we shall not allow him” Said the second in command

National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwa went head on and named the former president as the main sponsor of the Azimio protests. He accused the former president of hiring Raila Odinga as a mercenary to demonstrate and destabilize the government on his behalf.

“We want to tell Uhuru Kenyatta, because he is the principal sponsor of Azimio protests to desist from undermining the government through Raila Odinga who is just a mercenary” Said the Kikuyu MP

Naivasha MP Jane Kihara on the other hand asked the former president to declare his stand publicly whether he supports the calls for mass action by Raila Odinga.

Uhuru had in the past said that he recognizes Raila Odinga as his leader and that he will follow his lead unconditionally.

“I want to address our former President Uhuru. If you have a hand in this maandamano, come out and talk. We have heard him say that Raila is still his leader and his President,” she said.
