Machozi Monday is here with Us as Raila announces weekly Protests against the Government

Azimio La Umoja leader Raila Odinga has announced that he hall be leading anti-government protests every Monday until the government heeds to his demands.

The Azimio leader was barred by police from accessing the Nairobi CBD from Serena Hotel where he was scheduled to issue a press briefing before heading to the city center.

He decided to reroute to the city suburbs where he was accompanied by his supporters on foot and bodaboda. He snaked through Kamukunji and Eastleigh estates making stop overs while assuring his supporters that the journey is still on and that he will not relent.

The ever-busy Eastleigh came to a standstill as Raila made through the streets followed by his supporters who were both on foot and on bodabodas.

As supporters received him, Raila made a brief stop to address the crowd where he declared the coming back of Maandamano Monday.

“We will not relent this time,” he said.

Calling it a “rehearsal”, the MPs who addressed the press outside Parliament buildings in the capital said Kenyans should anticipate more protests as the opposition continues to pressure President William Ruto’s administration to heed to their demands.

“Today was just a rehearsal, the real one is coming,” Suna East MP Junet Mohamed said.

Odinga organised the protest to compel President Ruto’s administration to honour various issues it has, among them the high cost of living, alleged discrimination in State appointments, as well as purported lack of transparency in the country’s electoral body, IEBC.

He had last month given the Kenya Kwanza administration a 14-day ultimatum to meet the demands but it went ignored. He then began countrywide rallies to mobilise supporters to reject Ruto’s administration.
