Babu Owino Faults Azimio Bipartisan Team

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has come out to fault the composition of the Bipartisan team as announced by the Azimio coalition leadership.

The youthful MP thinks that the team should have included a youth because they are the ones who played the biggest role in the mass action protests which had been called by Azimio leader Raila Odinga

“A team has been put in place to represent Azimio in the bipartisan talks. I wish them well. However it would have been more efficient and effective if a youth was part of the team because the youths are the ones who killed and maimed but still at the forefront of the struggle” the celebrated lawmaker said.

The team which was announced by the Azimio leadership at Stoni Athi lodge after a parliamentary group meeting comprised of Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina, Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna, Pokot South MP David Pkosing, Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo, Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua, Amina Mnyazi of Malindi together with Milly Odhiambo the Suba North MP.

The popular city MP’s sentiments were echoed by Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai who also wished that Members of County Assembly should have also been included in the panel because they have remained steadfast to the course unlike MPs.

“It’s a team which might not work well for us. MCAs drove the resistance against impunity. MPs sold us off and were even bought in the National Assembly and Senate,” Alai stated.

Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko also waded into the controversy by seemingly agreeing with Babu Owino adding that the MP has been very loyal to the Azimio leader but has not been duly rewarded.

“It is not fair to leave Babu Owino out of the committee the way he has braced teargas to support you in protests. Be loyal Baba,” Sonko wrote.
