The Mulembe nation or Luhya community is the second most populous community in Kenya, after the Kikuyu community.
The community is known for their hard work, persistence and sharp brains that make them stand out in every sphere of life whether in politics, education or business.
With the youth being the drivers of society, Mulembe nation youths have not disappointed and they are really raring to go as they climb ranks in their respective fields. Kamati has compiled a list of just a few notable youths from Mulembe nation.
Roy Sasaka Telewa
The University of Nairobi graduate is currently the Chief Executive Officer of National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF)
Mr Telewa has an MBA in Operations Management, a Bachelor of Commerce in Procurement and Supply Chains Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Political Science. He is currently pursuing a PhD with a focus on Operations Optimization from the University of Nairobi.
Moreover, he holds full Professional Membership to the Chartered institute of Procurement and Supplies (CIPS-UK), the Kenya Institute of Supplies and Management (KISM) and the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM-Kenya).
Advice Mundalo
The maverick political and communications consultant is the current Jubilee Party National Youth League chairman. He is a rising star in the political circles with his robust experience in communications having risen from being a communications consultant at Talent House Productions before joining KU TV as a Producer then steadily climbed the ranks at KU TV to become the Digital Media Supervisor where his efforts helped transform the nascent media house to a national brand.
His entry into politics came when the then President Uhuru Kenyatta appointed him the National Youth Chair of the then ruling Jubilee Party where he was instrumental in Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s campaign especially in the media where he is very articulate on youth affairs.
Mr Mundalo holds a Political Science and Government degree from Kenyatta University and another Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Media study from Mt Kenya University.
Peter Kalerwa Salasya
The current Mumias East Member of Parliament is the real definition of ” a man of the people”. His down to earth nature has endeared him to many people especially the youths.
He is well loved by his people and he has been on the limelight ever since he won the elections to replace veteran politician Benjamin Washiali.
His theatrics in the National Assembly together with his likeable nature amongst his constituents puts him at a pole position to soar politically.
The lawmaker prides himself as the Mulembe Youth Kingpin.
Faith Norah Lukosi
Miss Lukosi currently sits on the Youth Enterprise Development Fund (YEDF) board as a Director and she has been instrumental in sensitizing the youth about economic inclusion through the Youth Fund.
She holds a Bachelors of Law degree from the University of Nairobi. She is a legal and policy consultant on policy making and legislative processes, youth and gender mainstreaming, and climate justice.
The sharp and articulate advocate also serves young people in different capacities as a Global Citizen Mentor under Ireland’s Global Youth Network Mentorship Programme, Chairperson of Nairobi Youth Advisory Group under National Democratic Institute, and Nairobi Youth Senator under Youth Senate Kenya.
The dedicated philanthropist helps the less fortunate in the society especially in Nairobi slums under her Faith Norah Lukosi Foundation that which has been very active in alleviating the poverty situation in the Nairobi slums
Alex Matere
The former Student Organization of Nairobi University (SONU) Secretary General who currently sits on the national broadcaster KBC’s board of directors and he has been very instrumental in policy framework formulation that has seen the national broadcaster’s viewership increase especially among the youths.
His likeable nature coupled with his ability to mobilize youths has earned him a reputation in political circles and he promises to be a major political player in the near future.
Steve Biko Wafula
The youthful advocate is founder and owner of Soko Directory, an online platform that breaks down market trends and gives financial advice to consumers and entrepreneurs.
Mr Wafula who goes with his renowned Twitter handle @sokoAnalyst and prides himself as an industrialist, has employed many people in his industries as he encourages industrialization as a way of job creation.
The political commentator has an interest in politics having expressed his interest in the Webuye West parliamentary race but stepped down in the run up to the election.
Joselyne Namalwa Chesoli
The bubbly and talented MC has taken over the events management industry and the only way she can go is up.
She MCs at various events including weddings, graduation ceremonies and funerals. In addition, she runs a branding company that produces quality branded merchandise for events and campaigns.
Kelvin Wanjala Wangwe
The Nairobi based businessman has made his name as an upcoming tycoon with business interests around the country.
The flamboyant accountant has also expressed his interest in joining politics as he eyes the Webuye West parliamentary duel in the next election of 2027
