Eric Omondi Arrested in Kisumu while leading protests over the high cost of Living

Comedian Eric Omondi has been arrested in the lakeside city of Kisumu when he was leading anti government demonstrations over what he termed as the high cost of living.

The celebrated comedian hit the streets with his supporters while donning a graduation gown, is supporters carried placards calling out the government over the high food prices, high school fees, failure to disburse HELB loans to university students and the high rate of unemployment.

Some protestors carried mattresses which they lay down on the blocked roads. The protestors started at Moi Avenue, making multiple stops along Kenyatta Avenue to gather momentum for his cause. Anti-riot police however quickly surrounded him, and lobbed teargas into the crowd, dispersing the crowd that was gathering in droves.

What followed is a now familiar sight of the comedian in handcuffs being hounded into the police vehicle before being taken to Kisumu Central police station where he is still being held.

Despite the numerous arrests, the comedian-turned activist is not relenting on his cause which he started back in February when he led shirtless supporters to barricade parliament road in a bid to get an audience with the National Assembly speaker Moses Wetangula before police came and dispersed the protests
