The leader of the Azimio la Umoja coalition party, Raila Odinga, has suggested his support for Kalonzo Musyoka, the leader of the Wiper Party, in the upcoming 2027 presidential election.

During an address in Migori on Sunday, Odinga mentioned that either he or Musyoka would represent the Azimio coalition, with the aim of defeating President William Ruto.
Odinga praised Musyoka for his long-standing loyalty, stating that he intends to reciprocate this loyalty by supporting him in the future.
“This man we have stood with him together since the KANU regime, we went ahead together and folded NDP, we went to NARC and even to ODM and we have stood with him twice fighting,” Odinga explained.
He protected Musyoka from repeated criticisms by President Ruto, alleging that the Head of State was trying to create a division between them in anticipation of a fiercely disputed election in 2027.
“The man has courage, he is someone to believe in, he is a Christian, a humble guy, and loving, last time I heard Ruto saying that Raila won’t vie so I will have time for Kalonzo,” Odinga added.
Odinga’s announcement provides a substantial advantage for Musyoka, who has been perceived as a likely rival to Ruto in the 2027 election. It will also be intriguing to observe how Odinga’s followers respond to the idea of him endorsing Musyoka rather than entering the race himself.
