The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) apprehended a suspected fake lawyer in Nairobi. LSK President Eric Theuri disclosed that the woman had impersonated a legitimate attorney by using a name nearly identical to the real lawyer’s. She also created a fake national identity card and a counterfeit practising certificate to assist her unlawful activities. Theuri stated that the woman is currently detained at Capitol Police Station while investigations are ongoing, with a future court appearance anticipated. He emphasized that LSK is unwavering in its efforts to combat individuals masquerading as High Court advocates.

The arrest follows Theuri’s call for Brian Mwenda’s prosecution, who was flagged for allegedly pretending to be a lawyer and representing clients in court. Theuri expressed doubts about the extent of Mwenda’s involvement in numerous cases within a short timeframe.
Additionally, The LSK President mentioned a forthcoming change in the registration criteria and assured that the society’s data remained secure. Director of Public Prosecution Renson Ingonga directed the Inspector General of Police to investigate Mwenda and bring charges against him.
Mwenda maintained his innocence, stating his willingness to cooperate if called upon, claiming to be a law-abiding citizen who respects the law and asserting that he is not evading the authorities
