Once more, the controversial preacher James Ng’ang’a has criticized his church members for offering what he considers to be an insufficient amount of money as tithes. In a video that has gained widespread attention, the pastor displays small stacks of money on the ground while loudly counting using a microphone.

“1234567 unajua uchumi ni mbaya . Kabla ikuwe mbaya ilikua wapi? Mnasema serikali ni mbaya Mmoja aliwapatia maziwa mbona hamkuu nunua ndege? Uhuru alikuweko lalikupati anini? Don’t tell me about Government. Tell me about God. Something is wrong between you and God,” he shares in frustration.
He expressed astonishment regarding the individuals who attend his church.
“Nimetumiwa na mtu sh100,000 and another sent sh125,000 and fuel is very expensive. So if I stay here I will chase you away, Me I don’t play catwalk. I want to know why doesn’t God visit your home. Ni watu tuu wa mapepo peke yake, watu wa kunyaongwa watu wanahara, hiyo tuu ndio Mungu anaweza nitumia? Hawezi nitumia kuinua mtu.”
“Juzi niliita wazee wale wa miaka sitini,” he said in a video clip. Ng’ang’a points to an individual in the congregation and proceeds to describe their attire, highlighting that it appears to be second-hand clothing (mitumba). “Juzi niliita wazee wale wa miaka sitini,” he said.
“Wewe ni fala, na ni mitumba umevaa, wewe hauna mahitaji, io ni ngombe muno uyu . Mtumba na wewe huoni mahitaji? ”
The brief video concludes with Ng’ang’a reprimanding the man in the audience while laughing intermittently.
This marks the second instance within the month of October in which a video of Nganga strongly criticizing a follower for a meager donation has gained widespread attention.
