Early on Monday morning, a tragic accident occurred on the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway, claiming the lives of a minimum of seven individuals. This incident involved a collision between a 14-seater matatu traveling towards Nakuru and a truck traveling in the opposite direction, according to the police.

Tom Odera, the Rift Valley regional police commander, indicated that the driver of the lorry is suspected to have deviated from their lane, resulting in the collision with the oncoming matatu.
Regrettably, seven people lost their lives instantly, and at least five others were transported to the hospital in serious condition. Authorities have expressed concerns that the number of casualties may increase.
“The road has been cleared and we are now investigating the accident,” he said.
The crash took place on the Ngata segment of the road, and the wounded individuals were quickly transported to Nakuru Level 6 Hospital, as reported by both the police and eyewitnesses.
There is a belief that the driver might have been exhausted.
This incident happens at a moment when a campaign against such accidents is currently underway.
Authorities express concerns that such accidents may become more frequent during the upcoming rainy season preceding the festive period.
